Banister rails for the stepsyou use every day.
Steel rails for external steps, ramps, and pathways, made to your site and fixed to hold. Free measure and quote across Melbourne.

The rail on the front stepsdoes the most work.
A banister rail is the rail beside a set of steps — outside the front door, down to the garage, along a path that slopes. It is the one people reach for carrying shopping, in the rain, and at night, which is why it is usually the first thing an occupational therapist writes down.
We make them to the steps rather than to a catalogue. The rise, the going, where the run has to start and stop, and what the rail is fixing to are all measured on site before anything is cut.
Rails can be mounted off the wall or stood on their own posts. Which one you get is decided by what is there to fix to, not by preference — a brick wall beside the steps gives one answer, an open path gives another.
Where a banister railusually goes.
The runs we are asked for most, in roughly that order.
Front and back entry steps
One side or both. Two rails let someone come down facing forwards rather than turning sideways to keep a hand on the only rail there is.
External ramps
Rails the full length of the ramp including its landings, so there is never a stretch with nothing to hold.
Sloping paths and driveways
On posts, where there is no wall. A run of rail along a path is often what makes the difference between using the back door and not.
Elevated decks and verandahs
A rail at the edge and a rail beside the step down, which are two different jobs and often quoted as one.

Outside rails have tosurvive outside.
An external rail spends its life in the weather and gets held with wet hands. The finish matters as much as the fixing: a rail that rusts at the base is a rail that will be loose in a few years, usually at exactly the point where it is taking the most load.
We look at what the rail is fixing into before quoting. Brick, rendered foam, weatherboard, concrete, and a timber deck frame each need a different fixing, and the same rail bolted to the wrong one will hold for a while and then will not.

Who we fitthese for.
Older people staying at home
Usually the first modification anyone makes, and often the one that delays a move into care.
NDIS participants
Almost always a minor home modification, which is the simplest category to get approved.
Coming home from hospital
Where the steps were manageable a month ago and are not now. We can usually work to a discharge date.
Families and carers
Arranging on someone else’s behalf. Tell us that when you ring and we will deal with you directly.
Before you book, two things to know.
It is fixed work, and it means drilling
Rails are bolted into the structure of the building — a wall, a floor, or a footing. There is no adhesive or suction version that will hold a person’s weight in a fall.
If you rent, ask first
You will need the owner’s or the agent’s permission before we can start. Ring us and we will tell you what they usually want to see — most say yes once they know what is involved.
Manufacture and preparation
Studs, noggings, brick, or a set footing. Where a wall genuinely cannot carry a rail we say so on the visit rather than after it is installed.
The work is backed by the relevant warranties
Carried out by licensed tradespeople, as with everything else we do.
Brochuresand guides.
The documents an occupational therapist, a plan manager, or a builder usually asks us for. We are preparing these now — ring or email in the meantime and we will send what you need.

How the jobactually runs.
Quoting and measurement
A licensed member of the team looks at the steps, the wall, and how the person actually moves through them. There is no charge for the visit.
A fixed price in writing
Set out so a plan manager, case manager, or occupational therapist can approve it without coming back to us for more detail.
Manufacture
Lengths, bends, and returns are fabricated for your run rather than trimmed from stock on the day.
Installation
Most banister rail jobs are done in a day. We take the offcuts and the packaging with us.
Warranty
The work is carried out by licensed tradespeople and backed by the relevant warranties. If something is not right, ring the same number you rang the first time.

Banister rails are made for outside. For an internal staircase most people want a timber handrail, which is warmer to hold and finishes against the wall differently.
