A bright non-slip strip along the edge fixes both. Your foot grips it, and your eye can see exactly where the step ends.

Inside, a shower base gets a clear, soft tape instead, so it grips without being rough on bare feet.

They look alike but aren’t the same. The surface decides which one you need.

  • Clear tape for the shower

    For shower bases and baths. Clear, so it doesn’t change the look, and soft under bare feet.

  • Coloured tape for step edges

    For smooth surfaces like tiles and sealed concrete, inside or out. It grips, marks the edge, and peels off cleanly.

  • Vision paint for rough surfaces

    A bright painted strip for decking, rough concrete, and paving, where tape won’t stick. Lasts much longer outdoors.

    We clean and dry the surface properly, which is what makes it last, then apply the tape or paint. Taped steps can be used straight away.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which do I need — tape or paint?
It depends on the surface. Smooth surfaces, like tiles or sealed concrete, take tape. Rough surfaces, like decking or old paving, need paint, because tape won’t stick. Send us a photo and we will tell you before we come out.
Can I put non-slip tape in the shower?
Yes, but only the clear shower kind. It is soft under bare feet and doesn’t change how the shower looks. Outdoor step tape is much rougher, and unpleasant to stand on barefoot.
How long does non-slip tape last?
In a shower, a long time. Outside on a step, much less, because sun, rain, and feet wear it down. Check it once a year. If a corner has lifted, have it replaced, because a loose edge can trip you.
Can tape or vision paint go down in a rental?
Tape, easily. It peels off cleanly, so you don’t need permission. Vision paint is harder to remove, so check with the owner or agent first.
Is it worth doing while I wait for a bigger job?
Yes. If new steps or a ramp are waiting on funding, tape can go down this week. It isn’t the permanent answer, but it is much safer than a bare, wet step in the meantime.
