Our draftingprocess.

  1. Initial consultation

    We talk through the modification, the funding path, and who else is involved.

  2. Site assessment and measurement

    Measured on site, in the real house — not from photographs.

  3. Draft creation

    Measured drawings a builder can price and build from, checked against AS 1428.1, the building code, and the funding rules.

  4. OT and client review

    The drawings go back to the occupational therapist and to you. Any changes are made to them, not from a fresh start.

  5. Final documentation

    The complete set, including what a council submission requires.

What itcosts.

One fee covers the visit and the drawings. The site visit is included, not charged separately. We spend up to an hour on site, where many others spend half an hour. The measurements and drawings are part of the same fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be on site for the drafting visit?
No. Plenty of OTs send their recommendations through, and we work from those and our own measurements. We send the drawings back for you to check before anything is final. You are welcome to come, though. A joint visit usually settles the scope faster when the work is complex or the client’s needs are changing.
What do I get back at the end?
Measured drawings of the change, based on measurements taken in the room itself. A builder can price them, and a funder can review them. If the work touches the structure of the house, we arrange the structural engineer and their report, and include it in any council application.
Can you draft a modification you will not be building?
Yes. The drafting is a service in its own right, and it doesn’t commit your client to us for the build. You can take the drawings to any builder. That is why they are drawn to a standard someone else can price from.
What happens if the client’s needs change mid-way?
Tell us, and we revise the drawings. Changes are made to the existing drawings and site measurements, rather than starting again. A changed scope is normal on this work, and we plan for it. We can also update older drawings to add accessibility features or meet current standards.
How long does the drafting process take?
It depends on the job, and we would rather give you a real date than a range from a web page. You get the expected time when the site measure is booked. Work that needs an engineer takes longer. If there is an NDIS or hospital discharge deadline, tell us at the start, and we will say straight away if we can meet it.
Where do you provide drafting services?
Across Victoria and New South Wales. The map on our contact page shows the area we cover at our standard rates. Outside it, we can still do the work, with a travel charge shown on the quote.
