Most older showers sit inside a raised hob — a lip of tile a hundred millimetres or so high that stops the water getting out. It works, and it is also the single most common reason someone stops being able to use their own shower. You cannot step over it safely, and a shower chair cannot cross it at all.
The permanent fix is to rebuild the floor, and for some bathrooms that is the right answer. An insert is the other one: a raised platform, made to the shape of your shower, that brings the floor of the bathroom up level with the top of the hob so there is nothing left to step over.
It is not fixed to anything. It sits in position, drains through to the existing waste, and lifts out for cleaning underneath — which is why it works in a rental, in a unit, or anywhere a permanent change is not on the table.

Nothing is drilled, nothing is glued, and no tile is touched. It comes out as easily as it went in, so it suits a rented home, and it can come with you if you move.

Before you book,two things to know.
Nothing is drilled, and nothing is damaged
This is the one product in our range that needs no structural work at all. It is entirely non-invasive, which is what makes it suitable for an owned or a rented property equally.
You do not need the owner’s permission
Because nothing is fixed to the building, an insert is not a modification in the sense a lease means. If you rent and have been told no to everything else, this is usually still a yes.
It raises the floor, so check the door and the head
The platform adds height. We check on the visit that the shower screen or curtain still closes, and that the head is still at a workable height once you are standing that bit taller.
It is not the answer to every shower
Where the room is too small to turn in, or the waterproofing has already failed, an insert covers the problem rather than fixing it. We will say so at the measure.

How the jobactually runs.
Quoting
Quoted to the occupational therapist’s specification where there is one. Funding is approved before anything is made.
Measurement
A first visit to measure the recess, the hob height, and the position of the waste, and to check the screen and the shower head still work at the new floor level.
Manufacture
Made to those measurements, including any corners or angles in the recess.
Installation
A second visit to lay it in and check the drainage and the fit. There is no drilling, no silicone, and no mess to clean up afterwards.
Warranty
The work is carried out by licensed tradespeople and backed by the relevant warranties. If something is not right, ring the same number you rang the first time.

Where the room needs it, the permanent version is a level-access shower formed in the floor itself — the fall re-graded to the waste, waterproofed and re-tiled, with no hob and no platform.
