Home modifications underSupport at Home.

Aged care funded work across Melbourne — what a quote request needs, how a provider approves it, and how the job is scheduled and invoiced.

The programme, andwhat it pays for here.

Support at Home is the Australian Government’s in-home aged care programme, replacing the Home Care Packages arrangement that preceded it. Both terms are still in use — providers, therapists, and families all say them — and packages granted under the older arrangement are still being spent, so we work with either.

What it means for this site is the ordinary range: grab rails and handrails, ramps and steps, non-slip work, shower modifications, and access into and around the house. It is the funding stream behind a great many of the minor modifications we install.

What differs from a private job is the approval. The work starts on the funding body’s written approval rather than on the client’s say-so, and that distinction matters to everyone involved.

Send us a quote request

What a quote requestneeds.

Send these together and the first quote you receive is the right one.

  • Client details

Name, the address the work is at, and a contact for whoever will be home. Where the client is not the right person to arrange access, tell us who is.

  • The funding provider

Which provider holds the package, and the accounts contact if you have it. This is what tells us who the quote goes to and who will eventually be invoiced.

  • Specification or scope of works

The therapist’s recommendation with the dimensions and positions decided. If a recommendation cannot be built as written in that house, you hear from us before anything begins.

  • Site photographs and markups

Clear photographs, and markups where the position matters. For a bathroom, each wall plus the plumbing point on the external wall outside it. For a ramp or step, one taken from several metres back.

How the workis organised.

  1. Request a quote

Send the client details, the funding provider, the specification, and photographs. We come back to you rather than to the client if something essential is missing.

  2. Provider approval

A purchase order or written approval by email, from the funding provider directly, confirming the quote number and amount being approved, any invoicing requirements, and the accounts email address.

  3. Works are scheduled with the client

Stock items are usually one visit. Custom items take two: a measure, at which design, position, and finish are confirmed on site with the client, and then the installation.

  4. Items are manufactured

Custom items are made to the measured dimensions. Changes to the therapist’s scope go back to the therapist, and changes to price go back to the funding provider, before anything is made.

  5. Installation

The second visit. The client is shown how to use what has been installed, with the carer present where they want that.

  6. Invoice

You are notified by email that the work is complete, with photographs. The invoice is issued to the funding provider under the agreement terms in place.

Where wework.

Greater Melbourne, and Sydney.

  • Melbourne metropolitan

Including the inner suburbs, apartments, and CBD buildings, where access, parking, and body corporate approvals add a step that is worth flagging at the quote rather than on the day.

  • Greater Melbourne and beyond

The outer suburbs and surrounding regions. If you are unsure whether an address is covered, send it with the request and we will tell you before you plan around it.

Questions

What people ask aboutsupport at home.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Support at Home?
It is the Australian Government’s in-home aged care programme, which replaced the Home Care Packages arrangement. Both names are still used in practice — providers, therapists, and families all say them, and packages granted under the earlier arrangement are still being spent — so we work with either term. For home modification work it funds much the same range as before: rails, ramps, steps, non-slip work, and bathroom access.
How does a provider approve a Support at Home quote?
By a purchase order, or by written approval sent by email from the funding body directly rather than relayed through the client. It needs to confirm the quote number being approved, the amount approved, any invoicing requirements or deadlines they work to, and the accounts email address. With those four things the job can be booked; without the accounts email in particular, the invoice stalls at the end.
When is Support at Home work invoiced?
After the work is complete. You are notified by email that the job is finished and sent photographs of the completed work, and the invoice is then issued to the funding provider under whatever agreement terms are in place with them. The client is not asked to pay for approved work and claim it back, which is the arrangement families most often ask us to confirm.
Can Support at Home funding cover a major modification?
It can, though the amount available under a package is usually the limiting factor on structural work rather than the rules. Bathroom rebuilds and larger ramps are frequently funded in part, with the balance met privately or through another pathway. Tell us the budget as well as the scope when you request a quote, and we will tell you honestly what fits inside it.
