For a doorway lip or a single step. Nothing is fixed down, so it suits renters and can move house with you.

A gentle slopeis a safe slope.
A ramp that is too steep can be more dangerous than the step it replaces. A wheelchair can roll away, and a walker can tip.
The higher the step, the longer the ramp needs to be. A 190mm step, for example, needs about 2.7 metres of ramp to be gentle enough for a wheelchair. That is why we always measure on site before we quote.

A step ramp
For a single step up to 190 mm, no longer than 1.9 metres. A rubber ramp or a small built ramp suits. If you have the room, a 1:14 ramp is easier to push up.

This is a guide based on the Australian Standard for access (AS 1428.1), not a design. A safe ramp also depends on its width, rails, edges, surface, and the door at the top. That is why we measure and design every ramp on site. What the numbers mean

The height of your step decides the material, more than looks do. We will recommend one on the visit.
Rubber
For steps of about 20–190mm, inside or out. Weatherproof and removable, so it suits a rental.
Aluminium
For small lips of about 12–34mm, like a door sill or the raised edge of a shower. The smoothest edge for wheels.
Treated timber
For steps of about 20–190mm, indoors or under cover. Screwed down, so it stays put.
Composite
For steps of about 60–190mm, outside. It needs no oiling or sanding, and stands up to the weather.
Merbau timber
For steps of about 60–190mm, outside. A hardwood that matches the timber decks we build.

Sloping sides, so you don’t step off a sharp edge if you come at the ramp from an angle.
Notches
Cut-outs so the ramp fits snugly around a door frame, a downpipe, or a post.

A bright strip along the edges, so the ramp is easy to see, especially if your eyesight has changed.
